Gwayne Hightower of House Hightower is a resident of Oldtown in The Reach.

Gwayne Hightower served as a knight for many years to multiple lords and knights. Until the Battle of Tumbleton, when he realised he was in too deep. With his cousin dead and his nephew to follow soon after, Gwayne helped Daeron escape, where they travelled North to where they found a town named Newtown. Gwayne named Daeron heir soon after.

After settling in Newtown, Gwayne spent much of his time travelling with Daeron, hunting, gathering food, and forming alliances. During these travels, Daeron asked Gwayne about Oldtown, the city where Gwayne had grown up and where Daeron had been born. The two travelled south to see the city, only to find it under the rule of a lesser lord who refused to surrender it to its rightful heirs.

Rather than risk another war, Gwayne returned north and continued the development of Newtown. Weeks later, a raven brought word that Oldtown had fallen into ruin. Gwayne immediately rode south with Daeron and reclaimed the city.

Since then, Gwayne has devoted himself to restoring Oldtown to its former glory. He has overseen the rebuilding of its homes, streets, walls, and holy places, while working to restore the city’s faith and prosperity. Though once a wandering knight serving other lords, Gwayne now seeks to leave behind a lasting legacy for House Hightower and his nephew, Daeron.
